Matthew Coulton

Matthew is an experienced public sector executive and specialist adviser in water and climate science, policy and regulation. He is a former adviser to NSW and Commonwealth cabinet Ministers with responsibility for water and agriculture, and former General Manager of Water and Agriculture at the Bureau of Meteorology. Since leaving the public service to become a consultant in 2024, he has delivered a range of projects relating to water security, policy and science

and climate risk, for a range of public and private sector organisations. This includes a 2025 project to develop a water security baseline for the Far North West Joint Organisation and independent reviews of select Water Sharing Plans in inland NSW.

Originally from northwest NSW, Matthew is very passionate about regional communities, economies and environments.
